It all began when Nelly and Roman took a getaway trip to explore new corners of Portugal and dreamed of creating a life project together. For years, they had worked independently in their own businesses, but now it was time to join their energies and build a future together.
By chance, they discovered the land and some of the property where Moinho Calmo now stands, it was love at first sight. As their family grew, so did their desire to settle down and put down roots.
Motivated by the dream of living by the coast as a family, they made it all happen.So here we are, and we warmly welcome you. It’s our pleasure to share our home with you.

For the creation of Moinho Calmo, architects Miguel Ferreira and Delfim Martins of bldgconcept Architects successfully merged authentic Portuguese architecture, industrial design, and elegant eco-friendly aesthetics—defining a unique new style that embodies Moinho Calmo’s philosophy.
As a result, all spaces at Moinho Calmo are welcoming, filled with natural light, and perfectly in harmony with their surroundings. Respecting the traditional village appearance and the history of the original building, Moinho Calmo was designed following the principles of bio-climatic architecture, ensuring natural energy sources for heating and hot water in all rooms.
The interior design team has furnished every room with essential furniture, bedding, and practical items crafted from natural materials such as cotton, silk, coconut fibers, natural rubber, and herbs like eucalyptus and lavender. Many objects are second-hand, reused, or upcycled, adding character and sustainability to the space.
When you enter Moinho Calmo, you’ll immediately sense the love and care in every corner, it will soon make you feel right at home.
